On February 14th, 2022, pages 1-40 of the Draft Design Guidelines focusing on the Mixed Use Commercial District, were recommended by the West Des Moines Planning + Zoning Commission. Votes included 4-yes, 0-no, and 1-abstained. Comments noted the following:

• “Excellent report. I commend you on the process. Love the visuals; for us those are so helpful.”
• “Hats off to Teska, the team, steering committee, and all who attended the meetings… so many did. It was a pleasure to serve on the committee… a very good experience.”
• “The HWDM Steering Committee reflects a great diversity of voices. Respect of each others’ perspectives and viewpoints is essential.”

The Draft Guidelines will go before City Council on February 21st, 2022. The HWDM Steering Committee meets on February 16th, 2022 at 4:30 pm to review Draft Guidelines for the Railroad Avenue District, among other items.
