Hello Historic West Des Moines:
Happy Fall! The Master Planning Team has been hard at work these past few weeks compiling the recommended Draft Design Guidelines for Historic West Des Moines. The Full Draft is near completion and includes 5 Chapters in total focusing on the (1) Valley Junction Historic Business District (previously reviewed and adopted in February of 2022 by Council), (2) the Transitional District, (3) Railroad Avenue Districts, (4) Mixed Industrial Districts, and (5) Commercial Districts.
The Planning and Zoning Commission will meet Monday, September 26th at 5:30 pm at City Hall (4200 Mills Civic Parkway) to review the Full Draft of the Design Guidelines and make a recommendation to Council. A copy of the Draft Guidelines, reflective of the motions passed by the Steering Committee over the past 9-months, will be made available in the coming days for review in advance of the meeting. A newsblast will be shared via this website and email notification shared when the document is posted.
